Interior Application Information
Bristol Finish Classic Clear Water Based
Urethane requires the same basic prep as ordinary
coatings, but the application is both easier and faster. Save
almost 75% of the labor compared with ordinary coating products!
Compatibility
Apply over wood stains, sealers, and existing finishes if in
good condition. Oil finishes or wax must be removed.
Preparation Procedures
New or Bare Wood: Sand as
required up to 220 grit. Remove dust and wipe with acetone. Wipe
with a tack rag. Apply 1 or 2 coats of any commercial sanding
sealer, following manufacturer’s instructions. Sand as required
to level any raised grain. Remove dust and wipe with a tack rag.
Previously Finished Surfaces: New coatings
should be allowed to cure fully before over-coating with
Classic Clear Water Based Urethane. Check compatibility
on a small area before coating large areas.
Sand with 220 grit until smooth and dull. Use a red
ScotchBrite pad for sharp corners and edges. Remove dust with a
clean damp towel, then lightly wipe with a tack rag.Working
Conditions
Apply from 40° to 120° F (4° to 49° C). Protect
material from freezing.
Application Procedures
Stir thoroughly before using. Use bristle or foam brushes,
rollers or spray equipment. Use a floor coating applicator for
large flooring areas. Apply a thin even coat with the grain of
the wood. Allow to dry for a minimum of 1 hour. Apply a second
coat when the first coat is not tacky. If grain raising has
occurred or first coat has dried longer than 4 hours, sand with
220 grit. Remove dust with a clean damp towel, then wipe with a
tack rag, and apply the second coat. More coats may be applied
if desired.
Allow 24 hours cure time at and above 70° F (21° C). More
time is required in colder temperatures or high humidity.
Clean equipment thoroughly with water. Clean up spills
immediately
